WordCamp Europe 2025 in Basel

WordCamp Europe took place in Basel from June 5 to 7, 2025. For me, it was not only an intense assignment photographically, but also a special edition from an organisational perspective.

That was Front Conference 2019

2019 was already my fifth time attending the newly renamed Front Conference as a photographer. Looking back, it was the edition I was happiest with photographically.

By boat from Rapperswil to Ufenau Island

Rapperswil makes for a relaxed escape from Zurich, and the boat ride to Ufenau Island adds an extra sense of calm to the day.

Five lakes hike in the Pizol region

The recommendation to do the Five Lakes Hike in Pizol sounded perfect, even if it turned into more of a four lake hike in the end.

Hiking to Seealpsee

After earlier hikes in Zermatt and to Leglerhütte, the next outing led into the Appenzell region and up to Seealpsee.

Simply stunning: Praia da Ursa

Praia da Ursa stands out not because it is easy to reach, but because of its dramatic scenery and its almost empty beach.

A rainy day in Portugal quickly turned into a simple drive further south along the coast.

Falling hard for Porto

Porto already felt charming on arrival and quickly revealed itself as a lively, compact and very welcoming city.

Visiting Nazaré, home of the world’s highest waves

A stop in Nazaré was planned mainly because of its famous giant waves, even if the place felt smaller and more touristy than expected that day.

Surfing in Peniche

Peniche had been described as less crowded, but it quickly turned out to be much busier than the previously quiet Ericeira.

7 general tips for Hawaii

Some practical tips make travelling in Hawaii easier no matter which island is on the itinerary, from acclimatising to navigating by rental car.

On the tourist island: Maui

Before spending the final two days back on Oʻahu, there was one week on Maui, the most touristic of the Hawaiian islands.

On the biggest island: Big Island

Big Island, as the name suggests, is the largest island in Hawaii. Volcanic eruptions and the cooled lava they left behind have allowed the island to keep growing over time. Despite that, the island is nowhere near as barren as the name might suggest.

On Hawaii’s garden island: Kauaʻi

Kauaʻi is known as the garden island. It is incredibly green and feels like a true paradise of plants. To stay that lush, however, the island also comes with the possibility of flash floods, short but intense rain showers.

4 days on Oʻahu: taking time to arrive

After 26 hours and 3 flights, the moment had finally come. Oʻahu had been reached.

New York in pictures
